That's right, bitchez - the stuff they cut out of my boob is benign scar tissue. How scar tissue got inside my boob, no one is quite sure. The surgeon says the wound is healing nicely, and all I have to do now is be consistent with my self-exams, yearly mammograms, etc. So, that's over with.

Last weekend I got to meet the beauteous [info]smileserena, and this weekend [info]apocalypso23 and I are hitting Conflux (don't laugh, [info]chaoflux23 - we're mostly going to see Paul Mercer and Jill Tracy. And the bellydancing, natch. I'm about as Goth as Pat Boone.)

Two movies I am absolutely chomping at the bit to see - W. and Religulous. Oh HELLZ yeah.

Lots of work to do around the house today, so later y'all.

First off, there was some police activity right in our backyard and in front of our house this morning! Spalding came shooting through the cat door in the back door, and then [info]byroncaloz (who was working from home today and sitting at the dining room table) looked out the back door and saw some strange man in our backyard. Apparently he jumped over the fence next door. Byron ran to the front door and opened it, but a cop standing there with a bean bag gun said "Get back in the house and lock the door." He did. Then some more cops came around, and a K9 unit, and they went up and down the street and also through the alley behind out house. Byron poked his head out the back door and told them he had probably jumped the fence. So maybe 15 minutes later they finally caught the guy right on the sidewalk in front of our house. Byron went out later and talked to one of the cops. Apparently this man was suicidal. His girlfriend called the police, and he bolted. He wasn't armed or anything. They took him somewhere to get some help. It was kind of weird, though, knowing that all this was going on right near our house. Maferefun Ochossi, is all I gotta say.

Then today I had my breast consultation. The surgeon was kind of jolly and funny. My surgery is scheduled for September 24. Apparently they are going to take a marshmallow-sized chunk out of my left boob. He said with a radial scar, they only have one shot at getting it out due to the weird way they're constructed (more like a spider web than a solid tumor). If the results come back "yay, you got it all," I'm fine. If they come back "you didn't get it all," then they just watch me. It could turn into a tumor in 10 years or so. I guess they're going to give me some kind of dye to make it easier to find the thing. I also have to go under general anesthesia, which I'm not looking forward to. It's kind of scary, but I know it will all turn out all right.

So Saturday I'm going to the ocean with [info]kik_inouye, and Sunday is my birthday. I'm feeling much better, still a bit of coughing but not nearly as much. The doctor today checked my lungs and said they sound clear, so I guess the antibiotic worked. Slowly but surely I'm on the mend.
