Well, this weekend rocked in so many ways. Saturday I worked my buns off (oh damn, they're still there) at the ceremonies. I'm waiting for my "Pluckeroni and Cheese" t-shirt,
apocalypso23 (you had to be there). Sunday I received Olokun. WOW. I am so happy, and so honored. I believe we've already established quite a rapport. She has to stay at
mslashes's for a week before I can take him home. Yes, I deliberately mixed up pronoun genders. Olokun is basically androgynous. I tend to think of him as male, though. But he/she is both and neither.
Anyway, it looks like I received Olokun at just the right time. I went for a mammogram today. I had one last summer, and they found an "architectural distortion" in the left. I was supposed to have gone back and have the left redone, but for some reason I never got around to it. Well, the thing is still there, and I had an ultrasound to confirm it. It's called a radial scar. It's not malignant, but since there is a history of breast cancer in my family (my mom's youngest sister; they caught it in time and she's doing fine now), there is a chance that it might develop into a malignancy. So they are going to do an excisional biopsy. Well, biopsy seems to indicate they're just going to take a sample - they're basically going to take the whole thing out. Apparently it's something that can be done in the surgeon's office. I have an appointment with the surgeon next month on the 14th. Can't say I'm not nervous about it, but I'm just thanking God it's not a tumor. I guess it's way down deep in the tissue; I told the radiologist who came in to see me after the ultrasound that I couldn't feel a thing in there, and he said he would have been surprised if I had.
So, whee. One more thing to worry about. I think it'll be OK, though.
